REAG/GARP 2.0

Since 01 January, 2024, the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF) has been responsible for processing REAG/GARP 2.0 and StarthilfePlus applications and organizing the departure.

Currently longer processing times for REAG/GARP 2.0 applications

Due to the continued high volume of applications, there are currently longer processing times for applications. Therefore, please be aware that it can currently take up to eight weeks for complete applications to be processed and for you to receive your funding decision.

In individual cases, currently particularly in the case of countries of origin with high numbers of applications, the processing time can be up to twelve weeks.

We are aware that this is a major challenge for you and your clients. We are endeavouring to improve the situation as quickly as possible.

Current prioritization criteria in the context of REAG/GARP 2.0 application processing

Regardless of the current processing time, priority processing of cases is currently possible if one or more of the following criteria are met:

1. Personal criteria:
• Pregnancy from the 20th week of pregnancy
• Impending loss of housing or homelessness

2. Structural criteria:
• Dublin cases, if the date of the Dublin transfer is known
• Indications of immediate imminent deportation: It should be noted that the mere threat of deportation cannot constitute a reason for prioritization due to its lack of significance
• Imminent redistribution of the applicant to another initial reception facility (e.g. due to capacity limits being reached in the facility): A mandatory prerequisite for this is the submission of a valid justification as part of the application, which shows the need for prioritization

3. Criteria concerning the procurement of passport replacement documents:
Applications with passport replacement documents (so-called PEP cases) that are only valid for a short period after the date of application can no longer be given priority unless the BAMF has previously issued a neutral booking confirmation (NBB).

Exceptions apply to the following countries of origin:
• Ethiopia
• Benin
• Eritrea
• India
• Iran
• Jordan
• Mauritania
• Pakistan
• Russia
• Somalia
• Vietnam

In order to be able to process these cases as a priority if necessary, we would be grateful for an additional e-mail to the mailbox RG2.0-info@bamf.bund.de in addition to a corresponding note via the chat function in the online application module (OAM).
